Bosch Genuine DRV Valve for Common Rail High Pressure Pump

This is an original Bosch DRV valve (also known as a suction control valve or fuel metering valve) used on Bosch CP1 and CP3 high pressure pumps in common rail diesel injection systems. The DRV valve regulates fuel inlet pressure at the high pressure pump inlet, which directly controls rail pressure and injector delivery volume.

Function on the High Pressure Pump

The DRV valve is installed on the inlet side of the CP1 or CP3 high pressure pump. Under PWM control from the ECU, it adjusts the fuel flow into the pumping chamber so that the rail pressure tracks the demanded value precisely. A worn or sticking DRV valve causes rail pressure deviation, injector over-fueling, hard starting, black smoke, or fault codes such as P0087 / P0088 / P0093.

Typical Symptoms of a Failed DRV Valve

  • Rail pressure too high or too low under load

  • Engine hard to start, especially when cold

  • Black smoke under acceleration

  • P0087, P0088, P0093, P0193 fault codes

  • Engine runs rough or enters limp mode

Test Bench and Diagnostic Use

This DRV valve is used in two roles in a modern workshop:

  • Component test on the bench: the DRV valve is driven with a controlled PWM signal on the common rail test bench to verify its opening response, leakage, and resistance to the rated supply voltage.

  • Replacement during pump repair: when rebuilding a CP1 or CP3 pump, the DRV valve is often replaced together with the seal kit to restore correct fuel metering.

Why Use Original Bosch

Aftermarket DRV valves often have wider tolerance on PWM response and leakage, which leads to unstable rail pressure on the test bench and incorrect diagnostic conclusions. Original Bosch DRV valves ship with consistent calibration, sealed packaging, and a traceable serial number.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pumps use this DRV valve? It is used on Bosch CP1 and CP3 high pressure pumps for common rail diesel systems. Confirm the Bosch part number before ordering for a specific pump model.

Is this an original Bosch part? Yes, this is an original Bosch valve supplied in factory sealed Bosch packaging with barcode and serial number.

Can this DRV valve be tested on a common rail test bench? Yes, the test bench can drive the DRV valve with a PWM signal and verify its response curve, leakage, and electrical characteristics.

Technical Reference

Bosch 0 281 002 507 is a normally closed solenoid valve. Under no current the valve is closed and the pump inlet is restricted; as PWM duty cycle increases, the valve opens and allows more fuel into the pumping chamber. The DRV valve and the pressure regulator on the rail side work together to maintain the demanded rail pressure.

Identification Before Ordering

  • Check the Bosch part number printed on the valve body against the part being replaced

  • Verify the connector type matches the harness on the pump

  • Inspect the seal ring at the threaded section; always fit a new seal when reinstalling

Installation Notes

Remove the electrical connector and unscrew the DRV valve from the high pressure pump head. Clean the sealing surface, fit a new O-ring, and tighten the valve to the specified torque. Reconnect the harness and run a leak test before starting the engine.

Compatibility Note

Always confirm the Bosch part number on the original DRV valve before ordering. Different CP1 and CP3 pump variants use DRV valves with different calibration curves, even when the connector and thread look similar.

For technical questions or to confirm fitment for a specific pump, contact us via WhatsApp with the Bosch part number and pump model.
